Busy week!
I finally uploaded a couple of pictures from last weekend's HIGHLIGHTS Founders Workshop, "Wordplay," led by Rebecca Kai Dotlich with special guests Susan Pearson and Alice Schertle. Check out my Poetry Page for these. I'm thrilled to have met all these wonderful women! (I know guys write poetry, too, but we had an all-female crowd.)
Today I tooled down to Atlanta for the second annual SCBWI Southern Breeze Portfolio Workshop at the DeKalb Library. Organized by our Energizer-Bunny Illustrator Coordinator Elizabeth Dulemba, the afternoon featured two terrific speakers: Donna German of Sylvan-Dell Publishing and our region's own Mark Braught, who "brought" the illustrator's perspective.
Speaking of Elizabeth, she's just launched the first book which she both wrote and illustrated, SOAP,SOAP, SOAP from Raven Tree Press. She's been busy blog-touring! Check out her website at www.dulemba.com.
Also, Elizabeth and I will be appearing on a panel at Borders Books in Athens tomorrow afternoon with other great folks from our region: Donna H. Bowman - who ALSO has two brand new amazing books out from Picture Window Books (one about dinosaurs and the other about space) www.donnahbowman.net - and Donny Seagraves, whose hot-off-the-press GONE FROM THESE WOODS (Delacorte) I just finished last night and see why it's garnering great attention - www.donnyseagraves.com. The panel will also include Gene Fehler (www.genefehler.com) and Margo Candelario (www.margocandelario.com). Should be a great afternoon!
